کیوں نہیں آئے؟"*
یہ
سوال تیمور نے سب سے پہلے کیا۔
اُس
کی آنکھوں میں معصومانہ سی حیرت اور خفیف سا شکوہ بھی تھا۔ حمزہ نے فوراً تائید میں
سر ہلایا، اور نمل نے بریرہ کی گود سے تھوڑا سا نکل کر گردن اٹھائی، جیسے وہ بھی اُس
سوال کا جواب سننے کی منتظر ہو۔
*"عالی کیوں؟ عالیار چاچو بولا کرو آپ لوگ،
کوئی ہم عمر ہیں؟"*
قدسیہ
نے بچوں کی بات سن کر فوراً خفگی سے تنبیہ کی۔۔
*"نہیں!
ہم تو عالی ہی بولیں گے!"*
مگر
بچوں نے بیک زبان، شرارتی ضد سے کہا۔۔
*"ہمیشہ
تو چاچو ہی بولتے ہیں۔۔۔ عالی نہیں!"*
قدسیہ نے قدرے خفا لہجے میں کہا۔۔
*"آج
وہ کام میں مصروف تھے نا، اسی لیے نہیں آ سکے۔ لیکن وہ آپ سب کو بہت یاد کر رہے تھے۔"*
یہ
گفتگو سن کر بریرہ نے نرمی سے بچوں کو سمجھایا۔۔
بریرہ
کی نرم آواز میں اپنائیت بھی تھی اور دل جوئی بھی۔ بچوں نے خاموش ہو کر اثبات میں سر
ہلایا، مگر اُن کے چہروں سے واضح تھا کہ وہ عالیار کی غیر موجودگی سے خوش نہیں تھے۔
رضیہ
بیگم، جو قرۃ العین کے پہلو میں بیٹھی تھیں، دھیرے سے مسکرائیں۔۔
*"یہ
سب بچے عالیار سے کس قدر مانوس ہیں، تم دیکھ رہی ہو؟"*
*"نمل
تو جیسے اُس کی جان ہے، اور وہ نمل کے ایسے لاڈ اٹھاتا ہے جیسے باپ ہو۔ ہمارے گھر آتے
جاتے اتنا مان ہو گیا ہے ان بچوں کو اُس سے، کہ اب کوئی اور اتنا قریب بھی نہیں لگتا
اسے۔"*
نمازِ
ظہر کی ادائیگی کے بعد مرد حضرات—احمد صاحب، منیر خان، احسن اور ابراہیم شاہ—مسجد سے
لوٹ آئے۔ ان کے چہروں پر طہارت کی تازگی اور پیشانیوں پر سجدے کا نور صاف جھلک رہا
تھا۔ باہر کی خنکی میں کچھ دیر خاموشی چھائی رہی، پھر آہستہ آہستہ قدموں کی چاپ اندرونی
صحن میں سنائی دینے لگی۔
*"نماز
پڑھ کر آ گئے ہیں سب، شاید اب چائے کا وقت ہو جائے۔"*
قدسیہ
نے آتے قدموں کی آواز سن کر فوراً کہا..
سکینہ
بیگم نے مسکرا کر سر ہلایا،
"ہاں،
کچھ دیر بیٹھک ہو جائے تو بہتر ہے۔"
