"ہر انسان کی ذات کا ایک پہلو "سیاہ" ہوتا ہے ، یہاں سیاہ کا مطلب برا نہیں ہے یہ انسان کی شخصیت کا ایک ایسا پہلو جسے کوئی نہیں جانتا، ہمارا ہر پہلو ہر کسی کے لیے نہیں ہوتا ہم ہر کسی پر مکمل عیاں نہیں ہوجاتے، اور ہر پہلو اگر ظاہر ہو بھی جائے تو "سیاہ" کبھی ظاہر نہیں ہوتا جیسے رات کی تاریکی میں سب چھپ جاتا ہے گہری سیاہ رات ناجانے کتنے ہی دکھ درد اور محرومیاں لیے ہوئے ہوتی ہے جسے ہم کبھی آنسومیں بہا دیتے ہیں تو کبھی دل میں درد کی بڑھتی شدت اس درد کو آہستہ آہستہ مٹا دیتی ہے میرے لیے سیاہ وہ ہے جو سب سے چھپا ہوا ہے ایک کمزور اور مضبوط ترین پہلو۔۔ سیاہ وہ ہے جو بیان نہیں ہوتا۔۔یہ ہماری ذات کا وہ پردہ ہے جو اگر گر جائے تو ہم اپنی پہچان کھونے لگتے ہیں۔۔"

"یہ کہانی ہے روجانے اسفندیار کی اور مرتص میر یوسفزئی کی،روجانے رہتی تھی ایک ایسی بستی میں جہاں سیاہ گلاب کھلتے تھے۔۔اور مرتص میر وہ اپنی سیانی سیاچن پر دل سے مرتا تھا۔۔ مگر پھر ایک طویل آزمائش کے بعد ہجر انکا مقدر ٹہرا۔۔دو سال انتظار کے بعد وہ اسے ملی تھی مارگلا ہلز کے پاس اور پھر مرتص میر نے اسے دوبارہ کھونے نہیں دیا تھا۔۔"
