"ماں
بھری بھوک لگی ہے، کیا بنانا ہے کھانے میں؟"
"مجھے
کیا پتہ!" بیزاری سے کہتی۔ "اب یہ کام چھوڑ دے گی، دیکھ لینا۔"
دعا
تھرائی ہوئی ٹرالی میں کھانا لے آتی۔ جسے دیکھ کر تائی کی آنکھوں سے شعلے نکل پڑتے۔
بنا بھی برا سا منہ بنا لیتی:
"میں
تو نہیں کھاؤں گی، یہ دال تھی!"
پلیٹ
دیوار پر دے مارتی۔ تائی یہ کیوں بنی، جب پتہ ہے میں اور بنا نہیں کھاتی۔
آہ
بھر کر دعا کی درد بھری چھنک نکل جاتی۔
جب
بنا مسکرا کر یہ تماشا دیکھتی:
"یہ
میرا گھر ہے، یہاں جو میں چاہوں گی وہی ہوگا، تمہاری ہمت کیسے ہوئی اپنی چمچلانے کی؟"
زکیہ
برآمدے میں بیٹھی انکھیوں سے ٹی وی دیکھ رہی ہوتی اور دعا کھانا ابھی تک بنا نہیں پاتی۔
"مار
گئی جانم، جلی ادھر... میرا بھوک کا برا حال ہے۔ کہاں دفن ہو گئی جو میری آواز پر نہیں
آ رہی؟"

یہ
سب سن کر وہ پھوٹ پھوٹ کر رونے لگتی۔ اس کا دل آج کچھ زیادہ ہی بوجھل ہوا تھا۔
بچپن
کی یادیں، جو ہمیشہ دل میں دبائی رہتی، آج سامنے آ رہی تھیں۔ اسے اپنے ماں باپ کی شدت
سے یاد آ رہی تھی۔
بچھرے
کتھوں کا ڈھیر لیے کھڑی، آنسو پیتے ہوئے، بمشکل بولی:
"تائی،
بارش ہو رہی تھی، کپڑے بھیگ جاتے۔ اگر میں نہ جاتی، میں یہ رکھ کر کھانا دیتی۔"
پھر
وہ بھاگ گئی اور اپنے کمرے میں جا کر پھوٹ پھوٹ کر رونے لگی۔

کمرے
میں داخل ہوتے ہی دعا ٹوٹ کر بستر پر گر گئی۔ آنسو رخساروں پر بہتے بہتے تکیے میں جذب
ہو رہے تھے۔ دل کی گھٹن اتنی شدید تھی کہ وہ چیخ کر رونا چاہتی تھی مگر آواز گلے میں
ہی اٹک گئی۔
"یا
اللہ...! آخر میرا قصور کیا ہے؟"
وہ
سسکیوں کے بیچ ہچکیوں کے ساتھ بولی۔
"کیا یتیم ہونا ہی اتنا بڑا جرم ہے کہ ساری دنیا طعنے
دیتی ہے؟ میں کب تک سہتی رہوں گی؟"
