کو سوار کیا۔ گاؤں کے شور شرابے کے بیچ بس نکل پڑی۔ راستے بھر ہنسی مذاق اور ہلچل رہی۔
عورتیں مرغیوں کے پنجے سنبھالے بیٹھی تھیں، بچے کھڑکیوں سے باہر ہاتھ ہلا رہے تھے اور
مزدور اونگھتے جا رہے تھے۔ شاہد کے لیے یہی زندگی تھی اور یہی زندگی کا ڈھنگ تھا ۔
قصبہ عام سا تھا مگر حالیہ دنوں میں ایک نیا
خوف ہر زبان پر آ گیا تھا۔ کالا نواب نامی شخص پہاڑی کے پار اپنی اجارہ داری قائم کر
چکا تھا۔ اس کے کارندے ہر طرف منشیات اور زمینوں پر قبضے کا دھندا کرتے تھے۔ قصبے کے
لوگ سب جانتے تھے مگر کسی میں ہمت نہ تھی کہ کھل کر بات کریں۔ شاہد کے لیے یہ سب قصے
کہانیاں تھے ۔وہ سوچتا تھا کہ جب تک وہ سیدھا چل رہا ہے کسی کو اس سے کیا مسئلہ ہو
سکتا ہے ۔
