"ارے بھابھی! آپ کو کیا معلوم رات کے
کس پہر کچن میں کیا تماشے ہو رہے تھے۔ میں تو پانی پینے نیچے آئی اور دیکھا کہ
عارس میاں اور ہانی رات کے ڈیڑھ بجے اندھیرے کچن میں اکیلے—"
چاچی
کی بات ابھی ادھوری تھی کہ عارس نے فوراً بات کاٹتے ہوئے سپاٹ اور پراعتماد لہجے
میں کہا، "ماما! رات کو آپ بہت تھکی ہوئی تھیں، اور مجھے شدید بھوک لگ گئی
تھی، اس لیے میں نے ہانی کو بول دیا تھا کہ مجھے کھانا گرم کر کے دے دے۔ اس میں
اتنی حیرت کی کیا بات ہے؟"
"ارے کھانا گرم کرنے کا کہاں یا؟"
چاچی نے فوراً تیکھے لہجے میں لقمہ دیا، ان کی آنکھیں چمک رہی تھیں۔ "یا تو
ہاتھوں سے کھلانے کو—" چاچی نے جیسے ہی عارس اور ہانی کے ایک دوسرے کو نوالے
کھلانے کی بات اچھالی، لاؤنج میں ایک پل کے لیے سناٹا چھا گیا۔
لیکن
یہ بات سن کر سکندر اور ثانیہ بیگم کے چہرے پر غصے کے بجائے ایک خوبصورت سی
مسکراہٹ (smile) ابھر آئی۔ وہ دونوں تو پہلے ہی ان کا
نکاح پڑھوا چکے تھے اور ان کے اس پیار پر اندر ہی اندر خوش تھے۔ تایا ابو نے چہرے
کو دوبارہ سنجیدہ کیا اور مسکراتے ہوئے عارس سے پوچھا، "بیٹا! یہ تمہاری چاچی
کیا کہہ رہی ہیں؟"
"پتا نہیں پاپا! چاچی لگتا ہے ابھی تک
نیند میں ہوں گی، انہیں رات کے اندھیرے میں کوئی غلط فہمی ہوئی ہے،" عارس نے
چائے کا مگ اٹھاتے ہوئے اتنے پرسکون انداز میں جھوٹ بولا کہ چاچی کا اپنا بلڈ
پریشر ہائی ہو گیا۔
گاؤں
سے آئی دادی نے جب دیکھا کہ ان کی چلاک بہو بلاوجہ بات کا بتنگڑ بنا رہی ہے، تو
انہوں نے بغیر کسی تصدیق کے اپنی بہو کو سب کے سامنے زور سے ڈانٹ دیا۔
"تمہارا دماغ تو ٹھیک ہے بہو؟ رات کے اندھیرے میں تمہیں الٹی سیدھی چیزیں نظر
آتی ہیں۔ ، بھائی بہن جیسے بچوں پر ایسا شک کرتے ہوئے تمہیں شرم نہیں آتی؟ چپ چاپ
ناشتہ کرو اور اپنا منہ بند رکھو!" دادی کی اس ڈانٹ پر چاچی جھینپ کر رہ گئیں
اور ایمان نے جلن کے مارے اپنا چمچ پلیٹ پر پٹخ دیا۔
