کیا تماشہ ہے رخسار؟" ڈاکٹر فاروق نے اپنی آواز کو دھیما رکھتے ہوئے بھی لہجے
میں بھرپور غصہ انڈیل دیا۔ "وہ بچی ہے ابھی! اور سب جانتے ہیں کہ وہ آگے پڑھنا
چاہتی ہے، اس کا پورا دھیان اپنی پڑھائی پر ہے۔ تم نے نزہت خانم کے سامنے کھڑے ہو کر
اتنا بڑا سفید جھوٹ کیوں بولا کہ اس کا پڑھائی میں دل نہیں لگتا؟ تمہیں ذرا سا بھی
احساس نہیں ہوا کہ اس معصوم پر کیا گزر رہی ہوگی؟"
رخسار
نے صوفے کے نرم کشن پر پشت ٹکائی اور انتہائی بے نیازی اور سرد مہر انداز میں اپنے
ناخن دیکھتے ہوئے جواب دیا: "بچی نہیں رہی وہ! اس سال وہ اٹھارہ سال کی ہو گئی
ہے اور میری نظر میں یہ عمر لڑکی کی شادی کے لیے بالکل ٹھیک اور مناسب ہے۔"
"اگر
اٹھارہ سال شادی کے لیے بالکل ٹھیک عمر ہے، تو پھر مریم اور ماریا تو تئیس اور چوبیس
سال کی ہو چکی ہیں، ان کی شادی کیوں نہیں کی تم نے اب تک؟ ان کے لیے یہ عمر ٹھیک کیوں
نہیں لگتی تمہیں؟" ڈاکٹر فاروق نے تیکھے اور کاٹ دار لہجے میں سیدھا سوال داغا۔
رخسار
کے چہرے پر ایک زہریلی اور سرد مسکراہٹ نمودار ہوئی۔ اس نے اپنی گردن کو ہلکا سا خم
دیا اور حقارت سے بولی: "وہ دونوں میری بیٹیاں ہیں، میری اپنی اولاد! اور میں
انہیں پڑھانا چاہتی ہوں، ان کا ایک مقام بنانا چاہتی ہوں۔ میں اس منحوس لڑکی کا بوجھ
اپنے سر پر کیوں اٹھاؤں؟ جبکہ سب جانتے ہیں کہ وہ میری بیٹی ہے ہی نہیں!"
ڈاکٹر
فاروق نے ایک گہرا اور تلخ سانس لیا، ان کی آنکھوں میں پرانی یادوں کی اذیت جاگ اٹھی۔
انہوں نے تلخی سے کہا: "اس کا بوجھ تم نے خود اپنے سر پر ڈالا تھا رخسار! تم خود
جان بوجھ کر، اپنی ضد میں اسے یہاں پاکستان سے تہران لے کر آئی تھی، حالانکہ اس بیچاری
معصوم کی تو کوئی غلطی بھی نہیں تھی۔ اب جب وہ تمہارے سامنے ہے، تو اس کا بوجھ اٹھانے
سے کیوں کٹرا رہی ہو؟"
