سیلیسٹ کی نظروں کا رخ آسمان کی طرف تھا۔ وہ اسے نہیں
دیکھ رہی تھی۔ ادریس نے اپنے ہاتھ میں پکڑی چھتری کی طرف دیکھا اور پھر ہمت مجتمع
کر کے اس کے پاس چلا گیا۔ گلا کھنکار کر اسے متوجہ کیا۔ وہ اسے دیکھ کر ہمیشہ کی
طرح مسکرائی۔
"سب لوگ چلے گئے ہیں۔ اکیلے یہاں رکنا
ٹھیک نہیں ہے۔ آپ کب تک یہاں کھڑی رہیں گی؟"ادریس نے اس کی آنکھوں میں دیکھتے
ہوئے بغیر ہائے ہیلو کے سیدھا پوچھا۔
"جب تک بارش نہ رک جائے۔" اس نے
ہنوز مسکراتے ہوئے کہا۔
"لیکن بارش کے رکنے کا تو کوئی امکان
نہیں لگتا۔ آپ میری یہ چھتری لے لیں۔ "اس نے کہتے ہوئے اپنے ہاتھ میں پکڑی
چھتری اس کی طرف بڑھائی۔
"پھر تم کیا کرو گے؟ " اسے اس کی
فکر ہوئی۔
"میں تو اپنی گاڑی میں آیا ہوں۔ چلا
جاؤں گا۔ مجھے کوئی مسئلہ نہیں۔ " اس بار اس نے بھی مسکرا کر کہا۔ وہ اس کے
چہرے پر نظریں جمائے کچھ سوچ رہی تھی۔
"ہینری اور جیمز بہت بدتمیز ہیں۔ میں ان
کی ساری سازش دیکھ رہی تھی۔" اس نے ناک چڑھاتے ہوئے کہا۔
"وہ تو ایسے ہی ہیں۔ ان کا کوئی علاج
نہیں ہے۔ اب آپ کو جانا چاہیے۔ " اس نے سپاٹ لہجے میں کہا۔وہ چند لمحے اس کا
چہرہ دیکھتی رہی۔ “کیسا دھوپ چھاؤں سا آدمی ہے۔ ابھی مسکرا رہا تھا اور اب سڑا ہوا
لگ رہا ہے۔” اس نے سوچا۔ پھر اس کے ہاتھ سے چھتری لے لی اور اسے کھول کر جانے لگی۔
وہ اسے جاتے دیکھ مسکرا رہا تھا۔ اسے احساس ہوا کہ وہ مسکرا رہا ہے تو وہ ایک دم
مڑی۔
"تھینک یو ہینڈسم مین۔ مسکراتے ہوئے
اچھے لگتے ہو۔ ہر وقت سڑے رہنا اچھی بات نہیں ہے۔ مسکراتے رہا کرو۔ "وہ متبسم
چہرے کے ساتھ اس کا شکریہ ادا کر کے چلی گئی۔ ادریس کی مسکراہٹ سمٹ گئی۔ چہرہ
لڑکیوں کی طرح شرم سے لال ہو گیا۔
"توبہ۔استغفراللہ! لڑکی بڑی بےباک ہے۔
"اس نے خود کلامی کی اور جیبوں میں ہاتھ ڈال کر چلنے لگا۔بارش اسے بھگو رہی تھی
لیکن اب بارش کے بھگونے سے کیا فرق پڑتا تھا وہ تو پہلے ہی ایک نیلی جھیل میں ڈوب
چکا تھا۔
وہ اس سے جھوٹ بول کر بارش میں بھیگتا ہوا اپنے
اپارٹمنٹ کی طرف قدم اٹھا رہا تھا۔ اس کا اپارٹمنٹ قریب تھا اس لیے وہ پیدل چل کر
ہی یونیورسٹی آیا کرتا تھا.
